Eco-participation is a mandatory payment that applies to the purchase price of all new furniture. It finances the collection, sorting, recycling and recovery of used furniture. The full payment is paid to Eco-mobilier, a non-profit ecological organization that's gro accreditated by the State. Its mission is to develop furniture collection and to guarantee recovery at end-of-product life promoting remployment and reuse.

If you want to get rid of a piece of furniture that's still in good condition, you can give it to a social and supportive structure. Otherwise, you can deposit it at a waste management site. The furniture collected in Eco-furniture bins are transferred to sorting centers where material is separated by recovery stream (wood, mattresses, metal, plastic, etc.) to be recycled and reused in other manufactured products.
